Uzbekistan and Iran plan to increase trade turnover to two billion dollars

The program of the visit includes practical meetings and dialogues on May 11-12.
On May 11, a meeting of government delegations led by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and the First Vice President of the host country, Mohammad Reza Aref, took place at the Saadabad complex in Tehran.
It was emphasized that mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries is developing in all directions, and in particular, an important factor is the regular and sincere dialogue between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Peseshkian.
The parties noted that this meeting is a good opportunity to identify new areas of cooperation, and discussed in detail the possibilities of increasing the volume of bilateral trade to the target of 2 billion US dollars set by our presidents in the future.
In particular, it is important to further strengthen cooperation in the field of transport and logistics. To this end, it was noted that it is necessary to combine efforts and take concrete practical measures to urgently address some of the problems in this area that have remained unresolved for many years.
The parties also noted the importance of developing industrial cooperation, intensifying ties between the regions of our countries, expanding cooperation in the fields of science, education, technology and innovation, as well as bringing cooperation in the tourism, cultural and humanitarian spheres to a new level.
It was noted that the relevant ministries and departments should work more actively to ensure the timely implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.
Following the meeting, a Roadmap for strengthening comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran for 2025-2027, a Protocol on approving the List of Goods of the Preferential Trade Agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of plant protection and quarantine, and a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of Halal standards were signed.
