Uzbekistan - Iran: inter-parliamentary relations will further develop

On April 3, 2025, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Nuriddin Ismailov, met with a delegation led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Islamic Council of Iran, Hamidreza Hajibabai.
Representatives of the Iranian parliament are in our country as part of the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Tashkent on April 5-9 of this year.
At the beginning of the conversation, it was noted that in recent years, due to the strong political will of the leaders of the two states, relations between Uzbekistan and Iran have reached a qualitatively new level, mutual relations in all areas of bilateral relations have become more active, and multilateral dialogues are being strengthened.
It was noted with satisfaction that the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Islamic Republic of Iran in June 2023 not only marked the beginning of a new era in bilateral relations, but also raised Uzbek-Iranian relations to the level of comprehensive cooperation.
During the conversation, the guests were provided with detailed information about the new Constitution and the large-scale reforms being implemented within the framework of the "Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy, the structural structure of the Legislative Chamber, its activities in the field of lawmaking, the main tasks of the committees and commissions of the chamber.
In turn, H. Hajiboboi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and positively assessed the balanced, open and constructive foreign policy, large-scale reforms and their results being pursued by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“We support the historic reforms being carried out by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The holding of the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tashkent is a very significant political event. We are pleased that cooperation between our countries, including inter-parliamentary relations, is increasingly strengthening,” said H. Hajiboboi.
The meeting also discussed the prospects for developing inter-parliamentary cooperation, enriching it with new content, exchanging mutual experience in the field of lawmaking, and intensifying dialogue on cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The parties agreed to bring cooperation to a new level, further develop and strengthen inter-parliamentary relations.
It is worth noting that a number of events and meetings with representatives of parliaments of foreign countries are planned within the framework of the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
