Uzbekistan and Iran to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation

On April 3 this year, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with a delegation led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Hamidriza Hajibaboi.
During the meeting, issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and ensuring the implementation of the agreements reached, as well as the development of trade and economic cooperation were discussed.
The parties emphasized the importance of consistently developing friendly relations between the two countries. It was noted that over the past six years, mutual trade turnover has increased by 1.7 times and reached $ 497 million in 2024, there are 261 enterprises with the participation of Iranian investors in Uzbekistan.
An agreement was reached to establish a systemic dialogue between the parliaments and strengthen cooperation in the legislative sphere, expand the list of products within the framework of the preferential trade agreement.
